Swimming Awards

At Make A Splash, we follow the ASA National Plan for Teaching Swimming (NPTS) awards scheme. At the end of each term certificates and badges are available to recognise the achievements of swimmers.

We have devised our own awards that we give to a select few swimmers who we feel have made the most significant progression during each term.

Swimming Awards
Duckling Awards

This scheme is created primarily to introduce young children and an accompanying adult to the pleasures of the water. These awards help with children's water confidence and aquatic skills.

NPTS Awards Stages 1-10

The NPTS award scheme enables the swimmer's journey from a complete beginner to a confident, competent swimmer who knows how to be safe in the water.

Distance Awards

This collection of distance awards ranges from 5m with a buoyancy aid (Puffin award) to distances swum without aids up to 5,000m. These awards motivate young swimmers to gain confidence, develop swimming abilities and stamina.

Alpha Awards

These awards are designed for swimmers who may need additional support to maximise their potential and enjoyment.

Water Skills Awards

This scheme develops skills learnt in the NPTS to build endurance, confidence, versatility and skills.

Synchronised Swimming Awards

Within the NPTS framework, stages 8, 9 & 10 are offered for Synchronised Swimming. This scheme enhances the swimmer’s aquatic development through the usage of music, acquisition of new skills, agility and endurance.

Rookie Lifeguard Awards

The RLSS UK Rookie Lifeguard programme is aimed primarily at children aged 8-12 years to teach essential Lifesaving and Lifeguarding skills. There are three stages; Bronze, Silver and Gold and within each stage there are three levels.
